That very same year she began working as an entry-level employee at a restaurant called An American Place for one year. Still Guarnaschelli's culinary experience started in the early years of watching her mom experiment with various recipes at home, while she edited cookbooks. After working under Larry Forgione, she worked in a variety of establishments like Guy Savoy's La Butte Chaillot in New York France Los Angeles. Guarnaschelli eventually became the executive chef at Butter. Guarnaschelli made an appearance on Food Network's Iron Chef America where she faced Cat Cora in the Farmers Market Battle of 2007. In 2011, she participated as the season's third runner up on The Next Iron Chef, and has been an Iron Chef judge from the beginning. She competed and lost in one episode of Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast. The position was made sous chef for Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian following the fourth episode on The Next Iron Chef.
